130+ inch almost in range, on the move early

Unread postby Swampthing » Sun Oct 30, 2011 3:43 pm

I have been saving one of my most promising spots. I sat there tonite and had an encounter with a beautiful buck with dark antlers with white tips. It was unreal. Felt like I was hunting Canada. A small 4 point led the way 75 yards out . He filtered towards me to 50 yards and then outa the corner of my eye I see something yellow 20 feet up waving back and forth. Here it was the top leaves of a sapling. So I follow the trunk down to ground level .And there he is shaking and twisting that tree to bits. He is a awesome 10 . Bringing up the trail of the 4 point. The 4 point eventually makes it under my tree, in doing so takes my exact path to my tree that I took . He's now downwind, so I think its over.So there I am with 4 point at 2 yards and 10 point at 60 yards. Now I 'm frozen wanting to make a move but locked down with the 4 point under me. The 4 point eventually moves on . And the 10 hits my trail at 50 yards and you guessed it ! His head picks up and he catches a whiff of something he don't like and gone he goes. Yeah my heart was surely pumping.
So close! But for pressured public land 1/2 hour b4 sunset and a close encounter with a 130 inch I'm not complaining. Mabey he'll show again tommorow, mabey not. But anyway , still a fun unforgettable nite on stand. Still a success in my eyes. I got to see my cake I've been waiting for hopefully tommorow I'll be eating it too.
