I believe the one is dead already.

That was interesting. If it were me though, I'd have had Dan shoot the live deer. Seemed the other deer was already dead.

Interesting for sure. Dispatching the live buck would have been my resolve.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I was thinking about this as well. I think that is what I would probably do, especially if it were on my private land or public. I would call a warden to see what to do about the buck that was already dead and hope he gives me a tag for it.

In the outdoor news last week there was a story about a warden in MN who got a call down by Rushford about 2 locked up bucks. The warden shot the antlers free with his shotgun. Both bucks recovered slowly and apparently lived (with a little less bone on their heads)

That is an unfortunate situation. Not sure what I would do if I was one of those guys.

I would have at least attempted to unlock the live buck and give him a chance to live. Looks like the main beam was wrapped around the dead bucks brow tine. If you could somehow cut the dead bucks main beam he would be free.

I believe I would have tried to cut the horns off the dead buck if possible with out getting myself hurt. Perhaps wedging the dead buck between a tree and reaching to cut the horns.. using the tree as a shield. just one approach. don't like seeing an animal trapped helplessly.

I don't claim to be any kind of expert but the non-action of these guys not trying to either shoot the struggling buck or contacting a warden pronto and see what their options are kinda of stinks. I have seen footage of chainsawing antlers off to free them up. Although this is rare and surreal I have way to much damn respect for these animals to have them waste away in front of me. Warden or no warden I would have done something, hope they did.
