If theres corn out..... Hes there!

Unread postby RUTIN » Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:49 am

I GOTTA get back to KY!!! If theres corn out then this buck is there.... I put corn out Sept. 21 and he spent the next 4 days there, and would come back every couple days to see if more was out. Well this weekend is there early Muzzleloader so I WILL be there, plus I just dumped 100 lbs of corn!!! Got another 10 pt with kickers and a goofy left g4 that strolled thru also!

Any daytime pics? If not you goning to have a hard time killing him if he only comes at night. And those pics are all well after dark. Don't mean to burst your bubble, those are some nice bucks. Do you know where they are bedding, if so you might want to get between the corn and as close to the bedding as possible. Good luck!

He has come in during daylight but not in awhile, I dont think the moon is helping right now. He is usually there around 8-10pm and 5am.... I have a decent idea where he is bedding now based off pics so im going to be hunting around that area. I dont like hunting over bait but I know its keeping him in the area. I will be hunting about 200 yards away and over looking several draws that he can come from. With it being muzzy season I should get a decent idea and if I dont kill with it then ill be back with bow which is how I would like to kill him.

Sounds like a solid plan, good luck!

Sounds like a plan. I would imagine the human scent you are leaving behind after dumping corn isn't helping your day time sightings.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

It could work... as long as he hunts off the food during this time frame. He is talking about getting back into the draw(s) that the deer is coming from... which is a solid plan. The other way a bait pile works is it sucks does into it... during the seeking phase bucks will cruise down wind and scent check it just like a scrape, during the chase phase a buck may follow a doe right into a bait pile. Like any other tactic it can work if done in the right place at the right time...
