when to hunt this property

Unread postby tonypurler » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:09 am

I've kicked up a 160 buck from 2 beds in. This prop. Basic dirch runs east to west and his 1st bed with a south wind was at the intersection of the north to south crab claw looking finger that connects to tje main east to west running creek dirch. His other bed witj a north wind was in the other north to south connecting finger about 150 yess to rigjt of the crab claw looking finger. I hunted each bed area once each, and didn't get reall damg close to them. But any ideas. I wait for the good moon m wind. Amd I shiuld be able to hunt mon n tues this week. U think I should wait till end of oct, as last yr I think I messed spot up by hunting too soon and not knowing their beds. It was a new proo last yr. Gor some nice pics from it tjat ill share as long as my photo bucket is figured out.

I would hunt now and later... Just be careful not to over hunt it and really think about your access roughts and stand positions so you put as little pressure as possible when getting to, and comeing from your stand positions.

Yea I feel that if I play it totally safe that they may disappear oncr the leaves fall and the acorns dry up. That's what happened last yr, but I possibly scared them off. I do have a new entry into the woods from tje far NE, and this shiuld help once tje beans are cut out. But the land is hard to hunt as its just thin strips of thick timber tucked in the middle of crop firlds.
So ill try to be aafe and hunt it some. I was thinking of just waiting till the end of oct wjen they ate starting to rut, amd that still may be the best option. Some deer are just hard to hunt amd they have good hiding spots.

You got it figured and you tried early, I'd wait. Just before the rut, here it kicks in heavy on the 11/7 so 11/3-11/5 right in there they get up a little eariler, but they're not gone. If that's you're best set, I'd save it for then.

Welcome and nice buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
