thermal question

Unread postby Stump » Sun Oct 02, 2011 2:15 pm

So on relatively flat ground though I'm not sure it matters, at what time of the day do thermals start coming down?

Unless there are some odd weather patterns going on, wouldn't the thermals keep taking your scent upward until the evening when temps started falling? Early after day break at a higher rate than we'll say at noon or 3 pm.

Reason being, I have a suspect wind tomorrow morning, but thermals will help. Just trying to figure out at what point of the day I can still get away with it.

In the Am they will be going down, until the sun warms the ground enough to make them rise.

So I would say early they go down.

After sunset they switch to down from going up.

In the evening west facing slopes switch later than east facing slopes.

In the AM its opposite.
