NY doesn't open for 2 more weeks (southern zone--where most of the deer and hunters are)

5 sits and saw 2 deer for less that 5 seconds each. This is the roughest start I've had in a long time. I'm hunting some new public this year. The deer seem to be closer than I'm used to. Last night I went back in to an island through balls deep water and muck for nothing. When I got back to the truck their were some guys that hunted close to the parking lot with leather boots on that saw deer. They couldn't have went to far in..

Just starting to spot check areas. Won't really decide which stands I will go with this year until Oct 15-20. Off to hunt Oct 28- Nov 15. Sure getting keyed up now with colors changing and morning frost. It is really hard to go to work! Will start out hunting Minn if area looks good on Oct 15 trip. If not, will just hunt N. Wis the whole 2 weeks. A lot going on this year so not out as much.

Only been out three times, saw deer everytime. Nothing too big though. I have seen 20 deer in three sits so far.

Slow and steady. 6 sits under my belt and one mature buck sighting (jumped out of his bed on a blind hunt) one other potential buck encounter but the deer held back in the thick stuff in a known buck bedding area.

5 sits and 8 deer...

I spend alot of Oct bird hunting, so that equals less sits.
