Wisconsinites..
Am I the only one that see's that there are no acorns this year? I hunt here in SE WI and I have yet to see a white oak or even red oak on the floor. Am I the only one? Every year its either one or the other, acorns and no apples or apples and no acorns.

I'm seeing acorns in Jefferson County.

I sat a few spots where the acorn were pretty much gone already. The coons have been hammering them.

Re: Wisconsinites..
There are not many in the marshes by me... Mostly reds. But when you find one near bedding its gold. The best years are the years with the low crop cause it concentrates them to the active trees.

I agree with Dan on this one. Here in Kentucky this year there are not many acorns, so its a honey hole if you find a few trees bearing.

Casper, not I. There are no acorns at all. I hunt on public as well. I was out today in that dang 40mph wind, hoping to hear or see some falling but nope, nada only sticks and branches. Some how its wierd, this year is apples and no acorns, im predicting from previous years, next year will be acorns and no apples. How do you guys hunt without acorns? Go to the corn or stay on the trails hoping they'll slip on by?

I hunt near buck bedding regardless of food sources... What they are currently feeding on has some influance on spot choices, but good scouting of beds in spring is the main factor.
