Awesome buck and great story. Reading your story made me think of my first buck and how it all went down! You will never ever forget that day, and I hope you have a nice spot on the wall for his head! Pope and young for sure!

Re: My First Buck 9/24/2011
Thanks guys, it was an awesome day for sure. Im glad you liked the story too. I could write A LOT more about it, just a really eventful day.
So I just got engaged this spring and am getting married Nov 19 (only bow hunt). After I hit him and waited for a few minutes trying to gain my composure and not fall from the tree. I reached for my phone in my fanny pack to check the time. Then I thought I better text my fiance and tell her what I just did. She obviously knows how consumed I am with all things bowhunting.
So I have the text all written out then think to myself. Nope, not gonna send it, not gonna junx it. Delete. Well about half an hour my phone vibrates, what the heck? Its her, honey I had a dream you shot a buck.
Wow, I guess some things are meant to be.

I was cracking up when I saw that video. All boxers have that same dumb look from time to time like that dog did when he got wasted by that deer.

Well I had high standards for my first. There are big ones running around the area but they are by no means easy to get. Like I said our family property is small but we try to target the does and mature deer. I could have shot some other "first bucks" but I had a standard in mind and Im glad I held out to achieve it. Id rather shoot wall hangers and does than smaller bucks, thats just me.
Hopefully I can continue to raise the bar throughout my life.

Awesome.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.
