My Next Move?

Unread postby ozzz » Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:24 pm

This morning I hunted a brand new spot for the first time. I underestimated the time it would take to get in and get set up, made more noise than I would ahve liked. Got in when light was breaking. Before going up the tree I hear a Doe snort/stomp.

What should my next move be? Weather is cool tomorrow and Id like to try and ambush her in the morning.

What should I do?

I know it isnt a ton of info but give me your best shot.

Red is where my stand was.

Blue is where I think the Doe was when I got busted.

Purple are potential spots I was thinking about for tomorrow.

Yellow is wind tomorrow.

White is my planned access.

Orange was todays access which I dont want to use because it was too loud and took too long.

I hope the link works, if not can someone help me out?

Hi, Sneaky.

First off it is always hard to set in the dark/first light.
Practice setting while not hunting will help with that.

I like to have a stand set already for an AM hunt.
I did not look at the map, my wireless is real slow tonite.

There is always a chance to kill something if you are hunting, so get back out there......the good news is you were in a good spot....you just need a better turn of luck.

Hope you get it tommorrow.

Good to see you contributing on THE BEAST.

I would say go out there and give it a try. I like your plan and would try the West purple dot. I would be all settled into your tree at least a half hour before it starts getting light in the Eastern sky so you can make a meal out of her. :L:
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

I have an ambush saddle and ladder sections so I should be able to get set fairly easily. I plan to be in way early. Since I was late this morning I am going to go even earlier and take what I think will be a quicker more quiet way in.

being so close to the field I would get in super early. maybe be set-up an hour before light now that one got spooked. Tough to say which spot to sit without actually being there. Probably whatever is closest to the thickest, best bedding available. Good luck!
