Thats insane! But I totally believe it. If they have a soft palatable food source, they're teeth will last a lot longer. And if they are living and or bedding where it is tough for a person to get too or just too far in to get too, then they wont get shot or hit by cars.
There was a doe around here in the county I live. She was shot in the arm pit dead on facing the hunter on a drive with an arrow. These guys feed the deer all winter right in the drive way with corn, that deer came for 16 years straight with about 4 inches of arrow sticking out of her armpit, and that leg never touched the ground much.
They found her dead while shed hunting in the snow one March, arrow lodged in the front shoulder with the same broadhead they shot it with 21 YEARS BEFORE.
Last year at the butcher the Wildlife Biologists from the state were in there twice a week aging deer and I saw a couple of old does that were over 10 years old.
I know this rant dosnt have too much to do with the OP, but its got something to do with some tough a$$ "unkillable" old ladies.

In the newest Benoit book, they talk about a buck that Lanny killed in Maine. The Wildlife Bio's at the check station said they couldnt be sure of an exact age but the buck was over 12.5 years old.
Said in the book that the bucks skin and fur were kind of just sagging and hanging on his body!

Re: hunting/killing "unkillable" bucks
interesting read so far guys!
well heres my "unkillable" buck. ive deemed him "unkillable" because i can only hunt this 6.5+yr old suburban giant on a 3 acre ridge. the property is bordered by control hunts on both sides.
i dont have any clue where this suburban pig is bedding. i just hope that he checks my oak ridge for a hot doe.

While I have not been very successfull killing big bucks...I gotta agree with Dan on that one. No big buck is unkillable...even during season, and even on public land. It can be done...and is done all the time. But it will probably never be easy!

Anyone have any guesses to age and scorte on this buck? My and AH110's personal opinion was at least 5.5 and 145-150".
Looks like this year he may have down sized a little bit which would put him a little older? What do you guys think?

I'm not much good at aging deer once there over 4.5 but I can confidently say he's older than that.. I say as far as score he's a solid 150 and I wouldn't be surprised if he edged out 160 with the mass his beams carry
