Final Preparations Before the Season Opens.
I figured we could all benifit from one anothers list of helpful reminders before the season gets under way. What kind of final preparations do you have on your checklist and what are some you have already handled.
1- Sharpen knife. I plan on using it early and often.
2- Wash and air out early season hunting clothes
3- Treat clothes w/ Deet for protection against ticks, red bugs, and skeeters.
4- Change batteries in head lamp
5- Tighten all bolts on lone wolf sticks and inspect straps.
6- Hunting Liscense back into wallet.
8- One last glassing mission before opening day pending wind direction on friday.
9- Make sure the Lone Wolf sticks and stand is strapped and ready.
10- Remove the wedding band. I got it stuck climbing down from a tree last year and got a severe gash.
Lets hear yours....

Sounds like a plan. I just have to wash, sort and pack all my gear everything else is ready to rock! Of course I still have about 22 days yet.

Re: Final Preparations Before the Season Opens.
I've been meaning to start a similar thread about what are you most likely to forget!
I am ready to rock. A few things I am double checking are:
-Remembering my LW straps I took them off the stand and just bungee the sticks on so I make less noise unpacking stuff
-Remembering my release
-Airing out clothes
-Laying out maps and determining based on wind direction and food source what stand I will hunt. I was banking on soybeans being green but they are turning so I think I will need to change my already set plans for opener.
-Still need to find a good way to silent pack my camera arm and video camera to the stand I think I will put it in a backpack and carry it in my hand

No way! How could you do that?
The worst I ever forgot was one day I forgot my glasses (everything is real fuzzy without them) another time forgot my release and on one late season hunt I forgot my gloves and froze...only takes forgetting once or twice and you never do it again!

Re: Final Preparations Before the Season Opens.
I like to test out my stand, sticks and safety straps before opening day on a tree at home to get familiar with everything again and double check everything. Nothing is worse than finding a problem on opening day.
As far as my bow, of course it is all sighted in with broadheads and I have been practicing with them for at least the past month for sure. Also, make sure I practice shooting with all of my hunting clothing/gear on to check for any issues.

I hunt a lot away from home. Need to make sure I don't forget anything.
