Shoot sitting , standing, don't matter ? ( Poll )
Wondering how you guys " prefer " to shoot at a deer with your bow...... I myself like the sitting down, I just feel more safe and secure even though I'm harnessed in. When I stand, I feel like I could lean a little too far or something when taking a shot at a deer....
I'm sure there are pro's and con's to both ways......
How about you guys ?

Re: Shoot sitting , standing, don't matter ? ( Poll )
my preference is to stand most of the time im in the stand. I fold my seat up, and lean against the tree with my bow on a hook next to me. Very little movement.
If I sit, its usually at a "slow" time, or not prime time and Im either eating a snack or drinking... then right back up.
Ive never shot sitting down, and I suspect I may have problems drawing my bow sitting down... as buck fever usually makes my bow feel like 80 lbs! LOL

i use to stand at every shot, now i dont care either way, if im caught off guard ill stay seated, if it close then im not risking standing anymore it all depends on the situation and the shot i forsee being presented.

It really doesn't matter to me....out of all the deer Ive shot, Ive only stood up for one though....had to to get the shot off. Whatever it takes to get an arrow in'em.

I've done it both ways. If I see a buck from a distance headed my way I'll stand and get my bow off the hook, clip my release to my loop, and prepare for a shot if its a target animal. If a buck suprises me or sneaks up from behind me I'll stay seated so I don't make any extra movement. I usually have my bow in my lap or on a EZ hanger where it takes hardly any movement and my bow is in my hand.

Every deer I have every shot I stoop up for. The first thing I do when I see deer at any range is stand up and grab my bow.
For all of you guys who have always shot deer sitting.....you never had a deer come on the opposing side of your stand?

Either way. Depends on the situation and how the deer approaches. Less movement is best.

In MHO if you are sitting you are putting yourself at a great disadvantage. You have so may more directions you can cover standing up. Plus standing up is the way you practice and is the natural way you shoot. If you shoot sitting down you will get hooked at some point and time.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Part of my preparation is practicing standing, sitting and kneeling. That way I know my limitations in every situation. It's better to be prepared than not.
If your sitting down in the rain and you can't hear a deer walk in behind you or your looking the other way and as he walks by you notice him you can still shoot him if you are comfortable sitting without having to make movement standing.

I prefer to shoot standing up, it just gives me more options to get ready for a shot, those pesky deer can be unpredictable at times. I do however practice shooting sitting down but rarely use it, only when I don't have time or can't move when a deer is close.

I've killed a lot of deer sitting, but so much prefer standing. Very hard to get outmanuevered standing.

Prefer standing... But I can usually get the job done sitting if I have to. Shot the bear last week sitting.
