Mine are between 35 to 75 yards from known beds. Most are proably 40 yards.

100-150 for the most part. Some much farther.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I don't think I have any closer than 60.

Most are in the 60 to 120 range, some are a little further like 150 to 200 because I can't get close enough but I might try hunting from the ground in those situations so I can close the distance.

Of the 4 that I know should hold and old buck, I tihnk they are all 50-70 yards. These are all small islands/humps in the marsh/swamps.

I have a few areas I know are bedding, but I dont have the bed pinned down. Those Im easily 100 or more away.

I've busted out 2 bucks setting up in the past. Proably pushed in a little to far. But think now ,with getting more proficient on setting up. I can prevent that in the future. Mostly what got me was not considering the presence of bucks in the satelite beds nearby.

My thoughts on getting too close; if you know where he beds and where he is going to, getting to close is high risk and I would like to think I can get more than one hunt in an area. If I bust the buck out not much chance of that. If a guy is hunting 25 acres the hunts are limited anyway so bumping a buck that is there would be non productive in IMO. 1000 acres bump and stacking would be a viable tactic as you can move the buck on property you hunt.
I also think hunting public land is different and a more aggressive approach is necessary as you must to be the first hunter to have an encounter with a certain buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Not only that, but highly pressured deer rarely venture very far from their bed until after dark.. The closer you are, the better chance you have of catching him during shooting hours..
