Marsh Bedding wind relation

just wondering if some one could enlite me on this one....when you find a buck bed in the spring, how do you determine what wind the deer is using in its bedd for it to bed there ???? in hill country its pertty simple to say the bucks there becasue of the thermla and such. in marsh, does terrain features or a mass of catails or some sort of water along with wind direction dictate where and why they bed there?

In marsh type terrain some beds are wind specific, some are not... Generally, the ones that are located on the edge of cover usually are wind specific.
If you look at the beds in spring when scouting and try to think about why he is there, it becomes pretty obvious. Thick cover behind him and being able to watch an opening in front with the wind blowing to the opening over his back is an obvious wind related bed...
When you find a bed in the middle of the thickest nastiest cover, or the middle of cattails under a tree, well thats a good indication he is relying solely of sound, but based on human or predator trail, they to "could be" wind specific.

when you say wind over his back what do you mean wich direction is the buck bedded in relation with the wind and cover

Would it be a good spot and stalk tactic then to walk perpindicular to the wind. Thinking that the deer is looking down wind and smelling up wind while you approach between the two?

Its pretty tough, they can see about 210 degrees cause the eyes are on the side of the head... It would work best to 1st know where the beds are and really look at cover and terrain in spring before the hunt.
