Hunting Location Safety
There was a thread about hunting alone vs. hunting with someone and it seemed like most were lone wolfs. Sort of a catch 22 but keeping your spots secret and not letting anyone know where you are hunting can be dangerous. If you get hurt and nobody has a clue where you are it could get ugly. Do you let a family member or friend know where you will be hunting? Mabey not the exact location but at least where you park? My wife gets on me for this and I think she is right that I should always let someone know where I will be especially if it is a remote spot and cell service does not work.

Good post. Safety is paramount.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Yep..not sure if Dor created the app, but he was the one endorsing it.. It was called HuntIT I believe..
If I am hunting somewhere new or remote or something, I will text my girlfriend my gps coords just in case..

It was DOR, and I think he or someone in his group developed it. I am sure it will get pulled up here soon

I always tell my wife where I am going.....Just in case. She probably could not find the spots, but at least she could telll someone who would be able to find my truck. Other than that she is sworn to secrecy!

Re: Hunting Location Safety
I always right down where I am going. Leave a GPS coordinate if I have it. I always tell someone I'm hunting, but rarely give to many specifics. . .more like "answers are in the secret envelope"
I agree. Its a fine line between lone wolf and careless.

Re: Hunting Location Safety
good point, always tell the wife where I will be
she at least knows where to start the search if I don't show up when she expects me back home

Re: Hunting Location Safety
I always tell my wife the general area I will be hunting and when I get to my stand site I immediately text her my exact GPS coordinates before I climb the tree.

Excellent point..I never thought about that, but its probably best to send the message BEFORE leaving the ground at all!
