I like that thought process.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Tough call, I might shoot but I can't say for sure. Probably a last second 50/50 choice. Sometimes those busted racks add charater and I would still consider him a heck of a trophy.

I would give him the shaft, unless he was still young and has potential to be bigger next year....UPbowhunter, your avatar is hilarious

Pass. There's always next year.
If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

Or two years later even.

Actually, I passed a buck that had one side busted off in 07. He didn't show up in 08. I took a friend hunting in 09 and he arrowed the buck, both sides intact (153 5/8 6.5 years old).

i think i would pass, now if he had his entire frame but some tines were broke he would get it, i shot a buck a few years ago that was by far the biggest bodied buck i have ever shot he was a monster. his rack had almost every tine broke except the g2's even the end of one beam was broken. the rack was nothinthe real bad part was i have no picture of his massive bodyg to write home about but he looked super cool that way and it all happened very fast. i dont regret shooting him, i put a bad hit on him and nevrer found him in season, after many sleeples nights i just knew he died, everyone thought i was crazy when i said i will find him, i found him 600 yards from the shot in the spring months later. the part that still sucks is loosing all that meat and not getting a pic of that massive body, he was rutted up and looking for a fight. when i see bucks all busted up i know they are (or think they are), the bull of the woods that makes em special to me......on another note i will never repair a deer i shoot he is how he is and im not changing no matter the size.....

5 years ago there was a 7.5+ year old buck I was hunting, he didn't have much for tine length or width but was massive, gnarly and smart. He kicked my but 99% of the time, but on one late season bowhunt I had him broadside at 15yds. The only problem was he had shed his left side already. I let him walk and never saw him again, I would do the same thing again.
