How many bucks have you killed that came to blind grunting
How many bucks have you killed that came to blind grunting... Blind means you did not see or hear the deer prior to calling, you were just randomly calling... Count only the 130+ class bucks that you are confidant were answering the call...

Re: How many bucks have you killed that came to blind grunti
I voted 0 but, I once had 4 does in a field in front of me and everytime they would start to leave, I'd grunt. They would turn around and come back. I did that several times, just playin with them. Suddenly a buck came running across the field and busted the does like a covey of quail, stood there lookin stupid for a moment, then trotted over to the woods maybe 30 yards from me. He turned around watchin the does. After they moved on over to the woods edge, he went off after them at a run. I could see his nose and horns but no shot what so ever. He was 140ish.
The next year, same field set up on the ground in a fencerow, blind grunting. A 130ish buck trotted out of the woods at 60-70 yards, stood there, then left.
2 years after that I was hunting the same field again, only a narrow dogleg between the 2 large woods. I was blind calling and a buck stepped out on the other side of the woods, starin in my direction. 50 yards away, out of range. A 140ish buck.
All three times were in October in the mid / late 90's. If I would have been a little smarter back then, I could possibly have killed them. Hindsight is 20/20. Although I carry a grunt call with me now I seldom ever use it. I might use it to try and stop or turn a buck but I don't blind call anymore. It seems everyone else does. I've called in a sack full of younger bucks tho.

I misread the question I should have voted ZERO. I called in a nice one once but was hunting out of a permanent stand I hunted regularly so he looked up in the tree saw me and stayed out of range....I meant to vote Zero accidentally voted 1-2.

Not sure. I rarely blind grunt. Another tool in my box to be used once the buck has been spotted. If that doesnt work then I go to the antlers. If the antlers don't work I go to the snort-wheeze. I voted zero. At least I can't recall any. Several that I have grunted in after I spotted them.

Re: How many bucks have you killed that came to blind grunti
I voted one. Not sure if this counts.
I was grunting at a buck that was on the next ridge. I could barely see it and it was like 200 yards away. I started grunting a few times. Then louder a few times. I was trying to get the far buck to acknowlege hearing the call.
I was getting absurdly loud, and somehow another buck appeared about 30 yards from me and closing. At twenty, I shot him. I figure he had to be responding positivly to the call. I was blowing it kinda loud for a buck that close.

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

I voted before I read the whole thing I put 3-4, it would only be one if I would have read the 130", sentance.

Re: How many bucks have you killed that came to blind grunti
I did not vote on the pole, however I have had 2 3 1/2+ yr old bucks come into blind calling that I am positive came to the call. Both of them came in stiff legged, ears back, and hair standing straight up. Neither one scored over 130. Both were in the 110-120 class of buck, both were in the Upper Peninsula
