Remote Game Cameras

Unread postby Buckfever » Mon Jul 11, 2011 9:35 am

I've never used any game cameras, but given my 65+/week work schedule, I was thinking that juidicious use of a game camera espeically with remote capabilities could help. What do you guys like in a game cam with remote capabilites?

Apparently there are cameras that can send the images via celllular capability and they can be viewed either as text or email or by visiting a host for the images via the internet.

I have to say though that I'm rather ignorant about the whole issue.

The biggest problem with cellular cameras is that you need a cell plan for each camera so they get expensive to use. The second problem occurs when the camera is placed in an area that does not have cell coverage.

There is another option of a camera that does not need a cell plan but will shoot an image to a remote device, trouble with that is that it can only send the image about a mile, and from what I was told by Andrea there idea of a mile is exaggerated and is likely measured on flat land with no trees or hills and is more like a couple hundred yards in real life scenarios.
My opinion is that no one has advanced the technology yet, but its coming.

You happen to know which one that is? That might work the property I need that for is only 18 miles away, I can seing by there. I just don't want to step into the grounds. As much as anything I need to rule out that no one is messing with my sets.

Buckeye cam makes a system that links "X" amount of cameras and sends the pics to a base unit, might be worth checking out!
