Anybody go glassing last night ? Sat, July 9th
I couldn't go looking for deer last night, as I had a graduation party to go to. I was pretty bummed I couldn't go looking because it was a great moonphase last night.... I went home from the party though, and did see 2 bucks crossing the road in front of us, they were just a couple of 1 1/2's..... But what I did think was weird was, we saw 3 different sets of coon crossing the road. All of them were a Mother with 5 or 6 little ones behind her.... Just wondering if there was a lot of action out there for deer....
Did anyone go shining ?

Didn't go shining last night but did see quite a few deer out and about last night in areas I never really see deer.
The ones I saw seemed to be headed for a river which I am sure was related to how warm it was last night and they needed some water to drink.

Last night was the peak night for awhile... the moon transit ( directly overhead) was within 15 min or so of sunset, which according to the Jeff Murray mooncharts, is key.

I just went to walmart and got the light many suggested on this site. Unfortunately Michigan doesn't allow shining past 11, or at least that was the rule back when I used to do it. Looking outside now its still light enough that i can see across the yard and its 9:43.

i think its until sept 15th every year, meaning some years it would fall short and other years overlap the opener

Yep, just copied this off the Michigan DNR site.
It is illegal to use an artificial light (including vehicle headlights) to locate wild animals at any time during November and all other days of the year between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.
