Who Remembers?
Who remembers when skunk scent was "standard procedure" for a cover up scent? When I first started hunting lots of people were using it, and I was dumb enough to use it also.
I had the special "epoxy" style where you mixed "A" and "B" and it instantly turned into skunk....
I think I used it to cause trouble in school...
Never hear it mentioned these days....

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

Re: Who Remembers?
Oh yeah........was used for more "fun" than hunting.
My old man tried all that stuff when I was a young and I just went along with it. Fox, coon pee, skunk, every kind of buck lure. Kind of funny now. Now I don't think he uses anything now. I have used doe-in-heat in the past with some success.
Richards buck lure was his favorite. Remember that?

Re: Who Remembers?
This reminds me of a brilliant plan my buddies and I came up with in Jr. High. We threw a open bottle of skunk scent into the girls locker room, expecting girls in various stages of undress to come running out. It would have been brilliant had it not been a day they were taking written tests, everyone ran out fully clothed. The good part was we never got caught.

Re: Who Remembers?
Guilty, have used skunk, fox, and various doe n heat, fore head scent, buck urine, etc. Only thing that I have seen results with is mock scrapes. I took my biggest michigan buck using the synthetic scents by hawgs unlimited. I made it, showed up a day or two later and saw it was TORE UP. Got excited and climbed into my stand. Later that morning in comes the buck and he tore it up again and I shot him as he was leaving. Oh almost forgot, back years ago when I baited, I tried some vanila killa from Fitzgerald.

Re: Who Remembers?
Yep, it was back in the early 1980's... I got a bottle for a gift and didn't think it would be a good idea to use hunting so off to school I went.... I got the whole school shut down twice before getting caught. Principal Truckenbroad got so mad he hit me right in the face. Got a 3 day vacation for that stunt...

Re: Who Remembers?
I bought a bottle of skunk essence and put it down the vents of some assholes car in college. I couldn't stand that kid and thought he deserved such a present. Those that I told thought it was AWESOME.

Re: Who Remembers?
Ha, i used to use coon or fox and had the coons coming to find me too.
This thread reminds me of one Thanksgiving morning i had a farm fresh bottle of doe in heat urine. I threw it on the dash above the defroster to warm it up so it would give off more scent before it froze in the cold temps. Well the bottle leaked and the truck cab became a doe in heat steam sauna. Before i could get up my tree that morning I had three bucks standing at the base of my tree!
