That's awesome!! :D
Thanks for sharing. I have never seen that before and I really enjoyed it.
Fred Bear is a legend and he is the primary reason why I love archery so much. I saw many of his hunting videos as I was growing up and always dreamed of someday going to Alaska to do some of the hunts he did. My favorite video of his is the 810 lb Alaskan Brown Bear that he shot on the beach from behind the large boulder at less than 25 feet in 1962.
Here is some more great footage....... [bbvideo=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBgydeR9I70[/bbvideo]

The hunt I am talking about is about 2/3 of the way into this video. It does not show the actual kill because the cameraman dropped the camera!! :o

There must have been another camera though because I have a video of the shot and the bear running off on VHS tape.

Nice clip. Fred will always be the man.

My first bow in the early 80's was a Bear Magnum Hunter. Still have it and shoot it every once in awhile.
Recently bought a 1974 Bear Kodiak Hunter recurve. I love shooting that bow. Nothing feels better than going back to the simpler times and shooting barebow totally instinctive.

Just watched these videos again. I never get tired of watching anything with Fred Bear and I appreciate all he did for bowhunting. :)

I wished I would have been around in Fred's time and been able to see the movies. I always remember his quote that went something like : "to all those young thrill seekers, if you want a real thrill go up north and hunt bears with a bow, it will cleans the soul" or something like that. I apologize to Fred for most likely not getting it right, I have a ton of respect for him and would love to have on of the original recurves to put on the wall in my man cave! I like Ted's song about Fred.

Always Fascinating!
"A hunt based only on trophies taken falls short of what the ultimate goal should be ... time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and the fish that live there."
Fred Bear
