Hunting in the Adirondacks can be pretty challenging with deer densities ranging from 2-4 deer per square mile in some of the areas I hunt. Bucks tend to be more transient and do not seem to hold to a specific bed but rather a bedding zone whose area may total hundreds of acres of dense spruce and fir stands on the upper one third of mountains. Some of these peaks can reach 3-4000 feet in height from the valley to peak.
With this dense thermal cover that tends to shield the ground from heating up during the day and diminish rising thermals somewhat, has anyone found there to be consistent bedding on the leeward side of mountains in similar scenarios where one could expect to find a thermal tunnel?
