Re: Low Set Up Thread?
I didn't take pictures, but will now that you've prompted the thought.
I've been in a few 2 and 3 stick setups this season. Can probably take a quarter stick off those because I stepped down into the stand. In any case, had deer walk within feet and single-digit yards from me. They weren't what I wanted to shoot so I didn't, but they cruised right on by like I wasn't even there.
I was in those trees for the general reasons of it was the only thing available to there was a low canopy to there was decent back cover lower as opposed to higher.

Nice...I'm really liking the low setups. Traditional bow hunting and wilderness podcast did a great video on setting up based on cover.

Re: Low Set Up Thread?
I was one stick plus an aider off the ground tonight. Just a fork horn photo below staring down my decoy while I was in the stand, had a decent 8 only ten feet from me while I was sitting on the ground in a deadfall covered in marsh grass. After I realized I would have struggled to shoot him if I had wanted to I decided to get in the tree. I actually set the stand while standing on the ground.

I actually took a picture of my two setups that I killed bucks out of this year. I was in a saddle in them and they were both about head high to my platform.

Re: Low Set Up Thread?
Here's a couple of my setups this year that aren't exactly in the nose bleed section, but put me where I feel I had my best chance of making good things happen.

Re: Low Set Up Thread?
I tried a no stick high set up in a tamarack swamp earlier this year and bailed on it as i felt ridiculous.
I went in blind and there was literally no where better to set up but i’m so used to going high i had a hard time generating faith in sitting so low. But the sign said i needed to be somewhere around there. Problem was when i tucked into a cattail edge i really couldn’t see much.
Might have to commit a little more to the low set up next year as there are so many areas that’s about your only option which is likely why the deer are there of course.
