Re: Tree Stand
Why do the stand vrs saddle comparison?
I own and use both.
Each has their up and down sides.
The mobile hunting i do I need both.
Luckily we don't have to pick one or another we can enjoy both.
For me hang on is great if im near the vehicle.
Steady reliable, platform is nice.
Less comfortable sitting.
If im boating in or hiking a long way I prefer saddle.
Saddle to me is more comfortable sitting for long periods of time during rut. Saddle i more around more in which can effect hunt.
Honestly neither is better they are just tools to be used.

I used a saddle for 3 seasons. Thought I liked it, then realized i didn't like it. Went back to a hang on last season and I'm glad I did. Now that stands and sticks are out there like Dan's and "weight" isn't an issue, Hang ons rule the day in my opinon.

Used both last year. Missed good bucks out of both. Got 2 shots on the ground, killed 2 bucks
Strategically Inefficient

Re: Tree Stand
Not me. I have used a saddle for the last 2 seasons, & there is no chance I'd consider going back to a hang on stand. I'll be in a saddle or on the ground.

Re: Tree Stand
I just picked up a saddle before last season and used both stand and saddle. Definitely just another tool in the bag for me. If I got a long hike up in the mountains or way deep in the woods it's easier mentally and physically to grab the lighter, less bulky saddle setup for the hunt. I do prefer to be in a stand for shooting but I could stand for some practice shooting from the saddle.

Re: Tree Stand
I use both but much prefer my saddles. No way I’m ever ditching them.

Re: Tree Stand
I tried the saddle and didn’t really like it. Couldn’t get comfortable in it and moved way too much. The off hand shot for me was difficult too, granted I didn’t put much effort into practicing out of it. Once I bought the beast stand I just can’t image going back to a saddle.
