Mapping Tools

Unread postby Public Prowler » Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:37 am

Hey everyone!

I've found that CalTopo, OnX, WI DNR imaging, and Google Earth are all great, free mapping tools I use to discover and scout new properties. However, I'm struggling to find any free mapping service that allows you to view winter imaging. I've heard that Spartan Forge has winter mapping, but it is not free. What would you all recommend for a free winter mapping application?

Scout, scout, scout, scout, scout, hunt, then scout again.

Not aware of anything that has winter specific images. It's a roll of the dice on whenever the satellite images are taken for the area.

I have spartan forge and so far, there are some different views...but all have green foliage for my home area as of 10 seconds ago.

Google Earth Pro for a desktop has historical imagery that has leaf off imagery that’s not too old. Maybe not too recent either though.

Haven’t used it in a while, but can usually find images that are at least within the last 7 or 8 years
