How often do mature bucks blow

So the story 1st..
I had a mature 8 point come in to 22yds tonight just calmly milling around. I had no shot. As he wandered off I gave a soft grunt. This stopped him for a moment and then he circled down wind to about 35 to 40yds. He Stood there for 10 minutes trying to get to my scent. I don't think he was really down wind of me but he sure thought he was. Eventually he turned to his original path and briskly walked off.
So what are the chances I got lucky and he left because he didn't see a deer or did he wind me and leave without blowing?
Do you often see mature bucks wind you and not blow?

If he winded you he wouldn't have slowly walked away. While they often don't blow he's not going to hang out either

Only times I have seen a mature buck blow is when u catch them by complete surprise at very close range. Most times they just sneak off without raising attention

Same here, just exit the area. Sometimes like they were on fire, sometimes nice and easy.

My experience with mature bucks catching me and blowing is a single, low pitched blow. Occasionally they will reteat a distance and give another, single, low pitched blow. Does and younger bucks definitely have a higher pitched sound to their blow, and usually will stand and blow multiple times from one spot.

Where I hunt the bigger bucks don't blow.
They just run for the next county.

Never seen a mature Buck blow. They just turn and slink off or bust out at mach 1 and never look back.

Only had one blow at me once this year. And that was when I caught him by surprise at 4yds. After our encounter and he lumbered out of sight, he blew once. Was a 4.5 or 5.5yr old buck. Other then that the rest have just snuck away or ran out

im not that experienced but everytime i spook something and it dosnt blow i think to myself that was a monster

Thanks for all the responses guys! I didn't go back in there tonight because the wind was wrong but tomorrow looks good. Im going to slip another 40yds closer to bedding and see what happens. He was up 45min. Before dark let's hope that dosent change!
