Season not going to plan
This year has not gone as planned but i did put some meat in the freezer yesterday with a fat doe. I was so cocky at the beginning of the season and the powers that be slapped me back to reality. Only 4 more days left of season and I can only hunt 3 of them. They say it only takes 15 seconds to change your season in that case i have plenty of time.

Man I'm right there with you! This is my first year using "beast" style tactics. I did so much spring scouting and found a lot of good areas but have found that I still need to learn to better evaluate what I find. I've seen a lot of deer, but they've been just out of range. Last week I was sitting 20 yards from a compact car sized scrape and didn't even know it was there until after I shot a deer on it. Unfortunately I was never able to locate the deer, comedy of errors on my part. It will get better.

All things equal, it’s the best 3 days of the season, shoot straight.

I’ve yet to have a season go as “planned” . Almost every season is a grind.

Re: Season not going to plan
I'm getting spanked too, brother. I have nothing in my freezer except last year's buck.
Been within 45 yards of both bucks I knew about this year.
One I set up nearly on top of thinking he was 100 yards away. Got all the way up the tree and set up with out him knowing. Busted me when I had a moment of poor balance and waved my arms around. Had no idea he was there until I saw his rear end flying through the trees.
Other one I found via fresh sign. Set up between two bedding areas I thought he might be in. Saw him moving the opposite direction 20 mins before last shooting light. Mouth grunted him into 30 yards, but he hung up behind cover until dark. Best part is, I decided to bow hunt only and skip cameras for a year to force some improved woodsmanship upon myself. It was muzzleloader season and I had him broadside at 70 yards. Could've roasted him if I wasn't a bow only masochist.
Ive also been within 30 yards of like 6 different does too.
Haven't even pulled the bow back yet.
The grind is real. You just have to embrace it.
Post a picture of the giant you shoot in the last 10 minutes of light on the closing night.
