Bobcat kill?
I was walking public land while deer hunting southeast Minnesota last weekend and came across a dead fawn. I first found a deer bed and then saw the carcass about 6 ft from the bed. It looked like it had only been dead for 24 hours or so. What animal covers up its prey in leaves? The rib cage looked like something had been eating it. Is this a bobcat?

Re: Bobcat kill?
We just had a mountain lion come thru WI so it’s possible one passed thru MN recently. I’m sure it’s likely not the only one headed east.

Looks like Sasquatches to me. Suspect a young juvenile male Bigfoot

Re: Bobcat kill?
I'd bet a bobcat . I found a yearling buck last spring that was covered in leaves. Had a trail cam pic of a bobcat 200 yards away from that spot. Bobcats can kill adult deer

More than likely a bear, they will do this from time to time.

I would agree, I've found a few up in northern MN that were covered like that with bear tracks around them.

Re: Bobcat kill?
I'm sure it was a bobcat. Here is some pics of the buried buck I found last spring viewtopic.php?f=18&t=58808&hilit=leaves
I found it freshly killed as I was walking to a bear bait that had NEVER been hit. Had no pics of a bear , but did have a pic of a bobcat the day before I pulled the bait. That dead deer was close by 2 - 3 hundred yards away . It was May so if there was a bear around I should have gotten a picture of it.

Might have been a deer hit & lost, cat came along and found it - they hide em for sure. Pretty neat.

The farmers I have been talking to down there are seeing bears on camera pretty regularly. It seems that this is becoming more common each year. They are also seeing a lot of bobcats. I am thinking this one had to be a cat as the deer bed was so close by. I don't think a bear would be able to sneak up on a bedded deer but maybe I am wrong...
