Luckily you're still around to tell this story. Do you run anything on the buck to silence it that may have got stuck on the button not allowing it to fully lock?

Re: I fell...
Glad you are okay. I’m sure that was a shock.
I don’t like the wide open out front of me when in a lock-in, prefer a climber with a rail in front of me.
I got a summit climber and sold a LW this year. The summit came with a strap for securing the top part of the stand to the tree in addition to the cable and v notch.

Re: I fell...
Glad your ok i fell once about 8 feet and it was a very scary experience. Everything slows down into slow motion .
My dad has a steel plate in his shoulder from falling out of a ladder stand. When he went to move it to another tree.
No way would I use a ladder stand again they are the most dangerous..
Falling out of a stand is a very common thing.

Same exact thing happened to me last year. Oct 24. Both cables snapped and down I went… broke my right ankle. Irony, I had just unhooked my harness and was reaching for the ladder to climb down. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Geez. I know it’s been said 100 times over already but I am glad to hear you got away with a few nicks and bruises. Be careful out there fellow hunters.

Born of necessity!
I received permission on a farm that would not allow screw ins so I bought a bunch of those AmeriStep single step strap-ons (shut up Ed!). Those suckers always slipped
So I just learned to knot them all the time. So of course once I found LW stands and sticks I just kept the knot love alive!
