My buddy here in pa told of some fresh rubs he seen Saturday while hanging a camera and i thought man its a little early. I guess its not though because Sunday a had a hard horned buck cross the road in front of my truck and at 130 this morning on my cell cam i had a hard horned buck. Ive always seen rubs first week of September so i guess were right there.

It's definitely happening. I saw a few hard horned whitetails in Montana last night. Almost time

Yeah, it’s on. :D

I’m super curious if a certain one makes another appearance to see what he looks like without the velvet. He sure looked good with it on.

And just in case anyone is curious, the stiff he’s rubbing on in that pic are wispy-thin saplings at best. He was probably just trying to shag off some clinging velvet or something. It would be in the category of subtle sign and far from the intensity of pre-rut rubs.

I was out glassing 2 nights ago, and the 1 forky and 4 big bucks I saw all looked to be hard horned. This was in central MO.

Right on schedule. I was just saying that it’s interesting how bucks seems to disappear for a few days off cams and then suddenly reappear hard horned. That’s why those small rubs you find opening weekend are so important. Your likely very close to a core bedding area or possibly right in it where velvet shed happened. Seems they don’t travel far while that’s in process.
