Hunting seats
Any recommendations for a portable light weight hunting seat/ stool? Something I can bow hunt from the ground with that’s folds up and doesn’t make a lot of noise.

Re: Hunting seats
I've been thinking about getting a collapsible chair on Amazon for $30 it has a 400lb weight rating and only weights 2.5 lbs. For some reason it's not letting me put the link on here.

Wonder how loud it is opening up. Nice and compact though. I just sit or kneel on a foam pad from menards or a little blind folding chair.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm thinking of trying one just for the compact size. I will report back on how loud it is.

Moose that is nice and compact. Definitely let us know what you think of the seat if you buy it!

Here's a more comfy option, although slightly heavier. https://amzn.to/3e7Rr38

Re: Hunting seats
I've had fantastic luck with the Double Bull tri fold field chairs. I believe they make a larger one still, and I'd recommend it because the smaller seated ones crush your nuts and are kinda tippy. They fold up/down silently, even in cold weather, and have good warranties.
No way I'd use a camp folding type chair, they're loud.

Re: Hunting seats
After many back operations I was forced to switch to a crossbow and I stopped hunting from trees and hunt from the ground 100% of the time.
I have tried just about every seat out there and came to the conclusion that comfort is king . If you aren’t comfortable you are going to squirm and get busted. In order for me to be comfortable I have to have a back rest.
I settled on the Waldron Pacseat that AJD recommended. It’s spendy and costs about as much as a treestand. It also has a long lead time. They are made by a single person in his home shop. They are very well made. It is obvious to me that he pays attention to detail and uses quality materials in the construction of the seat. It has an adjustable back rest and is hands down the most comfortable seat I have used. I attached a small back pack to the seat for my essentials.
It is the last seat I will ever have to buy.
I made one of the Torges seats that Southern Buck recommended and it is also comfortable, using the tree as the back rest.
The ratchet strap to attach it to the tree can be noisy but like a saddle you can move around the tree some.
For me the downside is that you are tied to setting up on a tree where the PacSeat allows you to set up anywhere.
The other seat that I hear a lot about is the Hammock Seat. I have never used it so I have nothing to offer there but I can see the utility but your still tied to a tree.

I just had one made this spring. Absolutely the best seat specifically designed just for ground hunting.
Also have the Hammock Seat. Both are great but the Waldrop is so much more versatile. It’s pricey but I think it’s worth every penny. Extremely well thought out design.

Re: Hunting seats
In a pop up blind I buy a chair from the local walmart, cheap foods up and has a swivel seat.
Now for a ground blind setup. I took a chippewa hangon stand I had and cut the seat section off of it. And just hang it on a tree in/are close too brush to break up my outline with my leafy suit.
Sometimes I set it just 3 or 4 inches off the ground, sometimes set it so I'm at normal chair height of the ground. Nice and light weight. I just strap it to my small day pack.
