3 year pursuit
Here is a buck that I was after for 3 years. I first saw him in the fall of 07, and never could get him patterned down, until the last day of muzzleloader season, had him at 85 yards broadside, and I was tagged out.
The next year, he blew up into a giant, would have been over the 200 inch mark (non-typical). I hunted him hard, never laying eyes on him till the Iowa late ML season once again, and sure enough, I missed him at 190 yards!!! Talk about a downer, and giving you something to think about all year. So in the fall of the 2009-2010 season, I decided that I was going to put my all into this particular buck, it was either him or nothing. I passed several big deer (160 +) waiting till till the one buck I was after come by.
I took it all the way down to the wire, last day of season, last hour of legal shooting light, and I took him at 75 yards. He went 20 yards and piled up. Talk about a stream of emotions. The one and only deer I set my sights on just went down.
He was a 9 1/2 year old whitetail, on the down hill slide. He is not the buck that he once was, but I would have been happy with him if he was a 130, I was after THAT buck.

Awesome!
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

That is one beautiful deer!
Heck of a story, and glad it ended the way it did rather than finding him dead somewhere..
