That’s awesome! I found a nice deadhead this year as well. Laying right in his bed.

I found a very similar bog, looks identical minus the white pines. Observation sits will be key before being able to go in for the kill.

Bogs are definitely overlooked for buck bedding. Most hunters just walk around them, which is why the bucks are there.

Re: Bigwoods bogs and discoveries
On YouTube earlier today, I watched a "big woods" video of a guy demonstrating an incredible funnel during the rut. It was a reasonably narrow strip of dry ground running between two bogs. After all, why would a mature buck want to be out in a bog? lol
The biggest buck in that entire area was likely spending a tremendous amount of time bedded in one of those bogs, rut or not.
Mature buck bedding in bogs is one of the most overlooked bedding scenarios left for us to discover.

Have had a few nice long bog drags, killer on the legs and about 99% chance of getting wet.

It won’t surprise you to know the day I filmed that I crashed through the ice big time twice.. it wasn’t too bad, soaked from just above the waist on down!

One time I we found a couple of old 1900 era cars way out in the swamp, those things were made way more solid than my truck. They probably got there in the winter during logged and some guys just dumped them.
