The boy and I went to the property (outside of Tallahassee) for a t-giving hunt. We could only shoot bucks per state rules
We kept seeing doe. Morning and evening.
We decided to experiment a bit.
We had a buck call and a doe bleet can.
We wanted to see how they reacted (diff days)
First day we messed around with the grunt tube.
The doe were feeding in the plot. There were 3.
Hit the grunt tube on “doe” setting.
No response.
Tried “buck”.
One lifted its head in indifference.
Hit “mature” buck
Nada
Hit dominant buck (hard and loud)
I think one lifted it’s head and just chewed.
Next day, we had them back again.
Took the doe bleet can and hit three short bleets.
All 3 popped their head up, the largest hauled but 75 yards away from the sound. The other two didn’t know what to do but were on alert.
Should be just about pre-rut when the young bucks start searching.
Hunting end of November
