High wind advisory, what's your strategy?
Tomorrow is the opener for Michigan firearms. Weather is calling for 50 MPH gusts- possibly more. What's your strategy for high winds? I like to plan on getting out there still do some still hunting with my binos-covering some ground and push into bedding. Scout along the way of course. what do you all like to do?

I will probably do house chores tommorow. We have the same advisory here also. I should mention its bow only still for us.

I’ve grown more fond of high wind days. Still hunting through the marshes and doing a lot of glassing is probably my preference. Really get away with some movement and noise, but it’s definitely harder to see and hear their movement as well. I typically avoid woods because of falling trees and widow makers when the winds get that high.

I love to still hunt and stalk in the wind. But 50+ I am staying out of the woods- I have had some close calls with trees and limbs
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Thinking along the same lines of still hunting and pushing bedding. We should have a slight rain which will allow me to get in silently.
I have had 2 encounters with a beauty buck in a bedding area where’s he locked down with a hot doe. Couldn’t get my shot with a bow but I may creep in tomorrow and try to put a bullet in him.

Hunt it. Ive learned over the years that weather forecasts are, many times, over-hyped.

I will be looking to get into a spot that is on the leeward side of a high ridge. The wind won't be so bad there as long as I'm not too high up.

Be careful! I have even small limbs stick 3/4 inches into the ground. They can do some serious damage.

Like most have said, still hunt and be careful with falling trees. Get low in some draws. You can walk right up to deer with wind blocking scent and sound.
