Do moose push out deer?

I'm hunting a new public piece in northern maine and finding a TON of moose sign beds, rubs/broken trees and scat old/new where I expected to see deer sign. The area i'm hunting was logged 7 years ago and is extremely thick and nasty. Very difficult to walk and very difficult to be quiet. I've been mainly working the transitions of the clear cuts with thick pines, swamp and a creek.

The majority of deer sign I found was directly along the main dirt road that hunters drive their trucks down... few scrapes, good amount of rubs and scat. I'm wondering if the moose are pushing the deer out of those thick cuts.... or maybe the hunters aren't hunting those close to road spots.
