Sick to my stomach hit a monster
I hit a monster tonight. When the arrow released it looked great. 20 yards broadside. It looked like it was going for the heart. Ground level after stalking him. I heard a crack/pop and he took off. Went about 60 yards into a cut bean field and stood there and laid down. Thought for sure he was done. But he never laid his head down. A minute later he gets up trying to run, goes 30 yards and I see he isn't using his front leg on the side I hit him. He bucks in the air on his hind legs and lays back down. I have no shot threw the trees and he does this 3 more times before he crosses property lines. He layed down near a creek on neighbors property. I went got permission to go trail but the neighbor said to wait till morning that way I can shoot him again if needed. I know it wasn't the shoulder blade. It looked level with the heart. I think it caught his leg bone just above the arm pit. Found the arrow broke off about 3 inches from the broadhead. Minimal blood. Hopefully I can get on him in the morning.

Good luck getting on him. But sounds a lot like one I hit last year, tucked his leg back on the shot and heard a big crack on impact.. Tracked him the next day minimal blood, actually found a piece of the bone, lost blood. Buddy saw him a week later chasing and fighting.

Man I sure i hope it goes well. I know he's hurting and I feel horrible. I know it happens to everyone sooner or later. If I don't find him I hope he survives. As light faded I could still see him with binos and it looked like he was laying and locking the wound. They are tough animals.

I got him!!! Jumped him from where I last seen him. Still could only go a few yards. Was able to finish him.

That's awesome. He sounded pretty hurt and I figured you'd jumbo him at some point. Good job being heads up and finishing the job.

Excellent!
Congratulations on successfully following up on him.
Pls let us know what got hit. I shot a small buck thru shoulder to leg joint couple years back. Somehow went thru and took out heart.

I was going to reply that I felt you would find him not far but didn’t want to give you false hope because crazy things happen. Glad you got him.
