How do you carry your sidearm hunting?
I'm curious how everyone carries their sidearm into the woods. I've been just putting my CrossBreed holster in my pack but I'd really like to get to where I could have a holster mounted onto my pack somehow.
You guys have any good recommendations or ideas?

Do you guys know if it has to be concealed or can it be open carry when bow hunting?

Depends on the state. Some states you cannot carry at all during the archery season.

My pack has a spot of webbing for holsters. I just open carry mine there.

During bow in NY we're only allowed to carry finger pistols and yell bang. I carry mine at the end of my arm.

I got a conceal carry vest from Venado that has two built in holsters and two built in mag holders... But when its warm like now I pocket carry... Its important to have easy quick access.

Re: How do you carry your sidearm hunting?
I often wear a fanny pack and it goes in there.
If I wear a lumbar pack, there is a pocket on the belt webbing at 7 O-clock (6 being straight down) that holds it and spare mag.
Same for full pack.
Also carry in pocket on cargo pants - safety pin a pocket holster in there and it's golden if you wear a belt.
Sometimes carry mouse gun (LCP or such) in shirt pocket.
If can open carry, have a nice form fitted leather holster on hip.
Lotsa options.

Crossed paths with a bear this July at 50 feet or so. Didn't need it, but glad I had it.
With my family at the time and suddenly they understood.
Trying out a saddle this year, so OWB probably won't work any more... at least once I start climbing.

Re: How do you carry your sidearm hunting?
I've tried to carry like I normally do, but my stand used to and saddle now puts odd pressure on the holster and I'm worried that my pistol may get pushed out.
I use a shoulder strap style fanny pack and am trying to find something to go on the waist belt. I don't want anything that just clips over it though. I'm in some fairly steep hill country that is also very thick and I don't want to risk the holster coming off. Thanks for the replies so far.
