Made my kids try on their stuff Sunday. Got a huge pile of stuff that don't fit.

Re: Gear Check Reminder
We have a 3 day velvet hunt this weekend. Already checked my bow, made sure fixed heads are flying true. Camo washed. Tomorrow I will be spraying them with permethrin. Should be good to go weather permitting.

Re: Gear Check Reminder
Great reminder! Saddle hunters should definitely check their gear for physical damage. Do a good inspection of ropes, carabiners and ascenders. Replace anything that is frayed, worn or damaged. Hunting is life but it should not cost you yours. Be safe out there!

Re: Gear Check Reminder
Last Saturday, I was needing to get up in an old oak and drop a huge limb. I got out the aluminum extension ladder, had to extend it fully to get to the base of the limb. I thought it would be smart to get out my safety harness and my life line to tie off, in case the limb took out the ladder on the way down.
Reading a tag on the life line, it said that I needed to throw it away when it hit the month that was punched on the tag, with the year to toss it being 2018. I'll continue to use it, as it looks like new and only hung in a tree for 3 weeks one season. If I had left it out all season or year around, I might feel differently.
