Hunted the evening in the hills today. Took forever to set up but I think the noise I made setting up attracted a 1.5 old 6 pointer that came in about 5 minutes after getting settled.

While I appreciate those who take leaps and bounds above any comprehensive arrow builds. I must ask if a 700 gr arrow is sweet especially when hitting ribs or bone then wouldn’t a 1000 gr be even better than a 700 gr? Where does it stop b4 accurate shooting is more important than heavy artillery?

Didn't start out going that heavy, but that's where the build ended up. My plan is to get down to 550-600 on the next set. I hunt almost exclusively on the ground, and I like them peace of mind that a heavy setup gives me. Also makes the bow super quiet. Like, people at the range hear me shoot and always ask what bow I'm shooting because it's so quiet. Last three deer I shot ran sixty yards or less. The buck that I shot was with a 650, he made it maybe twenty yards, and was dead in under 10 seconds. I know 675 is way over kill, but it's extremely deadly. Also, at 35 yards and in I have never been more accurate than with these arrows. They fly like darts.

Awesome job big burner!

No luck for me tonight, I hunted that spot and it was kind of a hope and pray that they don’t come out down wind. And sure enough just before closing had a deer blowing at me from straight down wind.

Something kind of interesting, walking out I caught a deer with my headlight bedded down 60 yds down wind of the walking trail. Looked like a big deer couldn’t see horns though. I marked the spot and will check it out next time I’m there.

Tomorrow should be pretty good. First north wind and temp drop in what I’m pretty sure is a few weeks so I’m going in positive.

Yesterday evening was action packed. The other guys had a monster slip through their fingers (one shot fired) and I passed two small mulies, three whitetail bucks (two 2 year olds and a ten that was possibly 3). It’s a 3 mile jaunt to get back there.

The best part was put of the 11 or 12 deer I saw, I had 8 of them in gun range and only one busted me. That was a little mulie and he was too stupid to run away

While observing I saw a few deer go through a gap. It was on the way back to the truck so being that far in I wanted to head back to the truck with 20-30 mins of light anyway. I ended up encountering a big one. Bedded. It was a 3.5+ mulie and he was about 300 yards. I had like 5-10 mins of light left and could have easily closed the gap. The wind was horrible all day... not taking a 300 yarder in 25/30 mph wind.

Well he stood up and went the other way and I lost light. I could t count points or see his forks so I don’t know exactly how big he was. I saw his frame though. He wasn’t a mega but I think he was worthy of my tag!

Another 8.17 miles logged totalling 12.77 for the day.

The forecast is good today so I’m heading back into the abyss. It will be interesting! I know there’s monsters back here...

Awesome stuff BigBurner.

Good luck Michiganders and everyone else out in the woods.

I’m back in the spot I saw the two shooters Thursday. Windy bit not terrible. My set is in a spot I planned to glass a big marsh to make a move if needed but forgot the binocs in the car...

Feels like it could be a busy day in the Kill Zone!

I’m back close to where I hunted yesterday morning. I’ve adjusted due to wind. I also have much better visibility and shooting options now. If this morning is anything like yesterday I may have a tag that gets punched.

I sat yesterday morning and last night in the same spot...that’s unusual for me...especially cuz I only saw one deer. The sign was fresh and there was a lot of it so I stuck it out knowing that it’d pay off. It did, I had a good one come into 15 yards....too bad my bow was already on the ground. Lol.

Nothing quite like the tranquility of a sunrise in the woods. As the sun reveals the forest floor, song birds start to sing. The excitement of what the day has in store has me excited. A squirrel graces me with his presence. Yes today will be a fine day. Then a barrage of gun fire opens up nothing short of hamburger hill. Pellets rain down like a rainstorm on the forest floor. Duck season has arrived. Maybe sitting up on this creek bend was not such a good idea. I can’t see them over the steep bank but they can’t be more than 40 yards. Sounds like they are having a heck of a morning.

Sent my brother in this morning to the same stand my wife killed out of last week. Got the call 40 minutes after legal that he "smoked a stud". Hes plunked a ton of does but been picky for bucks and only shot 2 others. Hoping it's a good shot and it could be an 80 inches that caught him in the moment or a booner. Gonna pick up the track after I get the kiddos from Sunday school and drop them off with his wife. We managed a few fluffballs on the trap line this morning also.

Took the wife out this am. Seen a small buck and a half rack of some sort that chased a few does through. Just down pouring out there. She’s never killed but thought the half rack was cool and unique. He might not be too lucky if he comes back around tonight.
