Set up 30 yds too far back tonight :angry-banghead: . About 6:05 I heard a deer bust out of the bedding and head my way. Then another. Then a 3rd that you could definitely tell was a much larger animal. Then I could hear a rack hitting all the brush and crap. Then he grunted a few times and raked every other tree. Never got a full look, but I could see some mega tall tines.

Not 100% positive, but I’m pretty sure I would’ve shot him. Still lookin for that 150”+

Good luck Lockdown!

Put on some miles today looking for a big guy but just a day or two behind them and nothing fresh anywhere, little bit of work in the morning then back in the woods.

Lockdown wrote:Got an arrow in him. Got blood and a chunk of meat?? No arrow. I’ve learned not to get my hopes up but he was close like 7 yards I don’t see how I could have missed. Couldn’t tell where I hit because he was almost behind me and curled around my tree. One jump and out of sight. It sounded like a soft thud.

It’s my birthday today too so hopefully I receive my present. Oh please lord let me find this deer!!

Happy birthday and good luck on the track. Jealous I've always wanted to kill one on my birthday which is also today

Went hunting on a small piece of public today with a buddy.

I hunted close to a creek, on corner of woods and field, with decent bedding nearby. There’s deer here but also lots of human pressure so they’re skittish.

Ended up seeing a doe, and 2 small half racked bucks that I just watched, they were out of bow range. Still a fun sit and glad I saw something at least!

Didn’t go well. I thought I saw bubbles in some of the blood but it’s hard to tell. Backing out and working on getting a tracking dog for tomorrow. The only thing that makes sense is that I hit him high. And after following the track, I’m super confused. It doesn’t jibe with what I heard.

Kind of feel like throwing up.

Hang in there bud. Good call getting dog insurance. Hope it pays off in the morning.

Dang lockdown. Hoping morning light and the dog will bring your late birthday buck.

Good luck this morning Lockdown. Sometimes things don't seem so good in the dark, and we worry unnecessarily. Daylight makes things a totally different situation. Keep your head up. If he's done that dog will make short work of the trail.

Got a tracker coming but his dog is young. He said he sometimes struggles, other times he’s really good. He has another track to take first so I’m at work beating my head against the wall until I get a call.

This pic makes him look bigger than he is he’s probably 140’s. I didn’t even eat supper last night.
