I know that almost everybody on here has been there and done that, but it felt pretty good. I feel like I am growing as a hunter thanks to Dan and the rest of the Beast members! This deer took many many hours to kill.

I think I have missed a total of 7 sits so far this season, so I have really been putting the time and effort in. I did not think killing a doe on public land would be quite this hard, but I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge it presents. Now I can focus on getting after a really nice 120 class 8 pointer that I have been seeing on a small 130 acre marsh spot! Should be fun!

Congrats!!! Nice job UncleBuck

Dry spell has ended. Big doe down on public. She followed the script, only made it about 80 yards.

Went after work yesterday. Just hunted on the ground. Bumped a buck as I approached bedding at ~7 yards. Nice big bed with rubs in and around the bed. Looks like i may have pushed in too close. Saw nothing else the rest of the night but did see some impressive amounts of ducks.

Thanks everybody. I had someone come out with an experienced dog track him since i hit him a little back. I didn't want to bring my pup out and he screw it up.

Anyways. We tracked the deer about 250 yds with recent blood but then the dog started just wandering all over the place. After about an hr or so the guy recommended i pick up the track this morning with another fellow and his 2 dogs sincw his dog wasnt tracking right.

So he gave the guy my number and told hin he was pretty sure the deer is dead nearby but he couldnt find him. So guy is headed out for us to track.

Weird thing is. I hit about mid ways back and got liver and guts on my arrow. Just like my 6pt. Not sure what the deal is with my shot. Nerves i guess. Anyways, we have tracked him 250 from shot and he has yet to bed down. Not sure what that means. You would think with a gut and liver shot he would have bedded closer. At least once somewhere.

Thoughts?

After a forced hiatus due to a severe asthma flare up, it's good to be back out. I couldn't handle sitting in the house anymore. Technically I'm not really supposed to be out yet, but it's an easy setup and entry/exit, with no climbing, and a much shorter than usual planned sit. It will probably be another week before I can climb again without coughing my brains out. Feelin'beasty!

Ps: Congrats to the guys who killed!

x2!

This is the last week of “taking it easy” for this guy. My sister in law and her family are coming down from Grand Forks to stay with us this weekend. I informed the wife that after lunch Sunday, I’M OUT!!

Going to hit it hard the next couple weekends. Maybe squeeze an after work hunt or two in...
