What makes your states beasts crazy?
So I was wading crotch deep in a alligator/cottonmouth filled flood plain the other day scouting for deer beds on dry humps in the area and began to wonder if Florida beasts are kinda crazy. Between the heat, alligators, venomous snakes, scorpions (yes they live in the tree bark on the pines we hang stands on), bears, panthers, and unbelievably thick growth in our jungles/swamps I think you gotta be a special breed to seriously hunt public down here.
What craziness do the beasts in your state deal with? What do yall do that "normal" hunters look at and just shake their heads?

Re: What makes your states beasts crazy?
Sounds like you have all the ingredients to make “crazy”!!!!
We have black bears but they seem far more scared of humans. A few poisonous snakes (my biggest fear). Ticks , CHIGGERS!!, and some high humidities.
Oh we also have rivers with banjo backgrounds....

We have tons of Snakes and it's Hot.
Cottonmouth, copperhead, rattlesnakes everywhere here.
Ticks ,flies.
Best part about hunting theirs no Libtards in the woods. I'm starting to hate liberals more then snakes.

We don’t have anything as crazy as that, but late season temps can be an issue. I’ve been out in -15 and it is no joke.

I've got it pretty easy here in Central Maryland. The worst things to deal with are ticks (with Lyme disease), mosquitoes, and hot and humid temperatures in the 90s for early season..
Huntin, fishin, lovin everyday...

It can get cold in Wisconsin not that that’s bad or crazy, I’ve got it easy I am not man enough to deal with snakes and gators.

Going out in dangerous cold temps and wind chills, and walking on floating mat that you pop thru every so often that is over your head deep. Thats the stuff that makes people give you the look around here.

Early and late season temps. Thankfully we don’t have the critters that you do
How bad do you want it?

Ya really the only thing we have to compete with alligators and snakes is the cold, it can certainly kill you and is brutal but just doesn't have the same scary factor as snakes and gators. Bears and wolves are around and they might scare some peeps but they don't worry me much at all.

Re: What makes your states beasts crazy?
For the southern part of the state I’d have to say it’s probably water. From launching your boat, making the hunt and then getting back to the boat ramp it’s pretty common to never set foot on dry land. Really even the guys that aren’t hardcore even do it. It’s just what the conditions are around here and either you get on a lease out of state, go further north or you suck it up and get in the water.
The boat rides can be pretty sketchy sometimes too. 15 miles down a pretty big foggy river in a small boat will make a person question themselves.
The water also comes with the alligators and snakes, but to be honest you get used to them. Just watch where you step. Boating accidents and drowning are scarily common. Snakes bites and alligator attacks are not. A water moccasin isn’t exactly a black momba or king cobra either.

You left out the steep terrain and the oceans of laurel and rhododendron. But I'll take that stuff over scorpions living in tree bark any day!
