About killed myself last night.

Unread postby oldrank » Fri Jul 10, 2020 2:32 am

So, I was out glassing some top secret areas and had stopped in a little area where I could watch some fields. This spot always holds a couple nice bucks and is tucked away where alot of folks can't see it unless you set up just right.

Anyhow, I had climbed into the back of my truck to get a little better vantage point. I heard another truck coming and went to hop out over the tail gate and do the whole pretend to be doing something else thing. When I planted my foot on the bumper my foot slipped and I did a 180 flip and fell on the ground. I'm not sure how I did it but I somewhat corrected my self in air and hit pretty flat where the impact spread out. I smashed my arm hard though. I recollected my thoughts and did a quick once over on my body. I thought my arm might be broke. The pain was intense and even up till I went to bed last night I wasn't sure if it was broke.

Luckily this morning everything seems ok except for some bumps and bruises. I'm ditching those old sandles. The bottoms are worn flat and I'm sure that's what caused the slip. Just happy to be in on piece today...stay safe everyone. You never know. I have done that move a thousand times...I know I'm getting old but feel I'm still somewhat agile. Next time I'll put the tailgate down...haha

I'm glad you are more or less okay. What were you going to "pretend " to be doing

It's the little simple things you've done a hundred times that come up and bite a guy from time to time.....I recently had a mishap involving a paint scraper, killer hornet and my nose...everything healed

Good question, Im not exactly sure. I just wasn't going to be caught with a pair of binoculars....I guess the public land paranoia runs deep in me.

Glad that it is only bumps and bruises.

One of the best things I did was to put a AMP bumper step on my truck. They are spendy but are terrific if you are in and out of the bed often.

Glad you're ok!

I am usually the one that manages to pull off such a feat of athletic brilliance.

Hopefully that was you taking one for the Beast Team. ;)

Haha, I got a good laugh out of this story. I've taken my share of unexpected spills. What can we do but laugh and try to walk it off

At least you didn’t perform the acrobatic maneuver in front if the on coming traffic, them stop to check on you, and then have to fib about what you were really doing!

Like Dave said...took one for the Team Beast

That's why my elbow took a hit. I held them up like they were a full cold beer on a hot day. They are fine.

Ouch! Glad it wasn't too serious. That could have gone bad if you hit your head.

I was thinking that same thing last night on the ride of shame home. What if I would have knocked myself out and was laying there when they came by...
