It feels like we've down this road several times. Here's the latest news. I've seen it on two different news stations.

I’ll wish him the best of luck but I’m not holding my breath on it

They are optimistic on this since it's co-sponsored by Tammy Baldwin. A bipartisanship on the matter might help.

Still has to not get shut down by a federal judge. That’s what killed it last time

Ask this guy how that worked out for him.

Sounds like a pretty expensive hunt. Think I’ll pass on that one.

Potential 4 1/2 years of jail time. I wonder what he thinks now if it was worth it.

Right or wrong, there’s no denying that it’s common.

First of all if you did shoot one, you would be pretty dumb to approach it, to use a shovel to bury it. You would be better off leaving it alone, many have chips in them. Johnson and Baldwin have done this before. The issue is getting the USFWS, to present a case, that would not be beat. last time they did poorly on their presentation . However they are going back to.the courts this summer, so we will see.
I am in wolf country, SSS is mostly just talk. I know one trapper who had to kill one. It cost him 1200.00. Lesson learned I for one know we need state control, but I do not. believe in breaking the law.

Ethics and legalities aside, (personally I think he should get an award of some kind), ya gotta admit that the guy must have been a pretty good woodsman.
(Unless he poisoned them or something).
Article didn't mention method of take.
Wolves don't let you just walk up and shoot them.

Yeah, they guy doesn’t seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer from a judgement standpoint, but I agree with you on the woodsman part.

The article said the guy was poaching all kinds of animals not just a wolf.

I hope states get management. What many wolf lovers don't understand is that if you put hunters/conservationists in charge of the wolves they will never be extinct. Just managed. Seems like a win win, but many on that side don't understand our position.

You do realize how they get you if you plug a wolf , don't you?
If a wolf dies with a transmitter., it sends out a signal when it goes cold, saying it's dead and sending out GPS coordinates of its location.
Once they find out how it died and if it was from a gun shot, all they have to do is contact the cell phone companies and get a record of what phones pinged in that general location at the time it went cold.
Bingo, your busted!
Moral of story... Leave cell phone turned off at all times when your in the wolfy woods...

Yep. You start shooting federally protected species and it’s a different ballgame.
