Does anyone have experience shooting this broad head?

Anything similar that you would recommend?

Great head, great warranty, difficult to resharpen for me. The coc head is for sure the best for penetration. I kinda liked the black hornet better for my compound bows. If you are shooting a very light bow like sub 45 the stinger would be better. I shoot #50 and have shot through deer with the black hornet, Exodus, slick trick, steelforce.

I'm using the Stinger Buzzcut 2 blade out of a light setup. They fly great out of a tuned bow and get the job done. If I was shooting heavier I would use the 4 blade.

I’ve shot both stinger and buzzcuts 4 blades for about 4 years, most consistent good flight of any fixed head I’ve tested, which was a big reason I liked them so much. Blood trails have been good, not the red carpet treatment but plenty to pick up a trail. Best part is that when a deer gets shot it usually doesn’t go far because they don’t know what hit them, they stop and look around then they’re down.

Penetration is really good, I shot a doe 30 yards slight quarter away with a 70lb 26.5 draw length bow with super light 365grain arrows, arrow entered rib cage and poked out scapula on the other side, blew my mind.

Warranty is a cool bonus but the heads do a great job regardless. I’m testing out black hornets now for a little more cutting diameter. I’ve thought about trying other Broadheads brands but I can’t deny the magnus accuracy so I’m sticking with them.

I also agree with this. I shoot 60lbs with black hornet, but if I went down to 55lbs I’d probably go back to the buzzcuts for penetration insurance.

Never shot the Stingers, but shot my four biggest bucks with Black Hornets, and every time they worked flawlessly. Great company!

Both of my deer killed with black hornets were shot with a #51 lb Hoyt Spyder. 27.5 inch draw and 25.5 inch a/c/c 3-39 shafts. They were right at 400 grains. Both were in the dirt passthroughs. Neither left a huge blood trail, but we're easy to find. Both deer were shot with the same head, it was easily resharpened.

I have since shot 2 larger deer one at 7 yards and one at 22 with Easton hexx with ,50 grain inserts and 85 grain Exodus. Both were shot with the same head and arrow. Easily disassembled and resharpened. Bloodtrails were both pretty easy to follow.

Prior to going to the #50 I shot a #60 bowtech swat. Not a barn burner and I was using the same acc arrows and 85 grain slick tricks. They were about 375 grain arrows. I killed a lot of deer with that setup and for whatever reason those slick tricks put deer down quick with very good blood trails.

If you are shooting whitetail deer at under 30 yards I think I would feel safe with ANY fixed blade heads with any #45 lbs plus bow as long as you can put it in the rib cage. The ticket is your accuracy and good flight which you should at least test before hunting. So may good heads out there I was around when you had 2 choices, muzzy and thunderhead....they still are great heads 30 years later. It's pretty easy to pass through a whitetail. My longbow is #41 and I have no fear of hunting with it and a good weight arrow and a solid 2 blade. You should have ZERO issue with the stinger.

I’ve been debating over the stingers or black hornets. Seems everyone likes them both.

One more thing I'll add. Although coc heads surely maximize penetration imo they don't always lead to the best blood trails. The knife type front makes a small slice both in and out. Just seems not much blood leaks out, but generally games reaction to a low impact head like that has them stopping within 50 yards and going down.

The heads like the slick trick and Exodus imo stretch the hide as the enter or exit and for lack of a better term make more of a hole than a slice with the shorter, wider multiple blade heads. More like a slug hole. It's harder to plug and blood just leaks out.

Just an observation. If you feel the need for a better blood trail. There are exceptions to everything, but that is my observation over the last 10 deer or so.

This is great info and thanks for the help.

I’m shooting 65# at 28.5 draw, I’m currently building some arrows so not sure on final arrow weight 450-525 range.

I’ll probably pick up a pack of stingers and black hornets and see which work better in my set up.

I have to agree with Briar. I shoot 50lb compound and 41lb long bow. Magnus stinger is a great head, and I can sharpen them easily, BUT, yes it can leave a lighter blood trail. You can not go wrong with them. This last year, and even a few weeks ago pig hunting, I used the RAM CAT. Its design is quiver specific, so that can be an issue, but the damage and blood trails were unreal,,,, good luck

Interesting observation, I’ve noticed blood trails with the buzzcuts don’t really start until something like 10 to 15 yards while trailing, it’s like it takes a bit for the blood to start pumping out. Definitely makes sense for coc Broadheads being generally very efficient with penetration. I’ve only shot one deer with black hornets so the jury is still out on if the extra cutting leads to better blood trails. They fly great and look real mean though.

I would add that it appears the serrated heads give better blood trails, that’s only been my experience. Nothing drastic just a little better and I don’t think there’s a downside to the serrated heads.
