Since seeing this video last year I started packing my sticks the same way. I actually forgot I changed that till I saw this again. Much more streamlined going thru thick brush.

Deerhuntermark absolutely rocks. He is exceptionally creative.

Where did you get that pack/ sling? I do the same thing with a rope that is looped at both ends and I like to pack them that way but it gets uncomfortable after a while. This looks like it would work better.

I got it off amazon, I originally bought it to put some wild edge steps inside but I didnt like climbing with them and then i had the idea to try my sticks in it and been using it since. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NTS3R ... asin_title

For the guys using the eberlestock x2, how tall are you? I’m 6’2 and heard if you are tall it’s kind of uncomfortable.

My question for you guys that are using a bit larger packs like the Eberlestock: how do you hang it in the tree? I had a pack of similar size last year, and I did feel like it made my physical presence a lot more in the tree. Do you guys feel this way too?

That's exactly why I dont carry a big pack myself. I used to, but then in a tree it seemed to always be in the way, so I would start leaving it at the base of the tree or nearby somewhere. Finally decided if I could do without the stuff in it for a hunt I might as well not even carry it. Starting only carrying what i could in a pouch on the saddle or my pants pockets, works for me. But i also rarely take layers like a lot of the guys up north need to, its usually not that cold here.

I run an old Eberle Gunslinger, it's what I've had for a daypack for years and it works pretty good in the saddle situation too. I really like that it has a narrow profile and compresses down pretty tight. It has 2 compression straps that I'll use to strap it to the tree and often use it in place of knee pads, or if I can find a place to tuck it or hide it in the tree, I'll do that, just depends on the situation. I don't think that it increases my profile too much in the tree. I like the GS and the firearm compartment as I always have an open container to hold things like binos, etc and my platform used to fit in it so I could just reach over my shoulder and pull it out. My Predator doesn't quite fit the same, so that will have to change. I'll probably hang it from a buckle under the pack while I climb. I run 3 LW sticks, hang the first from the ground and have the other 2 hanging from the sides of my pack with gear ties. It's worked well so far.

Mine stays on the ground at the base of the tree. I have no reason to bring up with me.

Anyone ever use a tac bag on their leg. Im thinking this would work for my wild edge steps and aider. Transitions as a shoulder bag to leg and would make a more contrilled access than the we bag they supply. Only issue would be interfering with the saddle during the climb. Any thoughts?

What actually holds the sticks to the pack? Is there a strap that goes around the bottom of the sticks , or is that buckle just for the front pocket?

I've been using the 5.11 Rush24 pack for a while now. It's almost perfect. I love the molle loops everywhere, good amount of storage while not being bulky, and super durable.

That buckle and flap holds them, when I get home I'll get some pics
