Mountain Hunting Podcast

Unread postby Thesouthpaw » Wed Jun 10, 2020 8:06 am

Hey guys, I thought I would share a podcast that I think everyone should listen to, especially those hunting in the eastern, more mountainous states. It is The Southern Outdoors Podcast, Episode 171. The guest they have on is Nathan Killen, and if you don't know who Nathan is, you are missing out. He has killed a pile of giant public land mountain bucks in VA and WV, most of which have completely flown under the radar as far at notoriety goes. So if you have an hour, give it a listen.
Side Note: I have nothing to gain from you listening, just thought I would pass this great episode along.

Thanks for sharing that. I am not at all a podcast listener, maybe one or two a year...But that’s the best one I have heard for hunting public land mountain bucks. Nathan is spot on and it reinforced some things I have been learning and should help me tweak my setups this season.

That’s weird. The link I posted has a bunch of episodes you can scroll down through I thought...
Sounds like I should give the one with Josh a listen. I have read a bit about him on here.

He is a great person to listen to. They have 3 with him on their podcasts. Episodes 141, 149, and 174 are all Josh Driver, but they have quite a few with other guests that are well worth a listen.

My apologies brancher147
I just now tabbed your link and seen the other listings as I scrolled down. At my first glance, I just clicked play and recognized it wasn't Nathan.

I thought it was a really good podcast and very relatable to my type of hunting terrain here in va. I’d actually like to meet him and talk to him to pick his brain some more. Sounds like a cool guy who’s a wealth of knowledge. Something that stood out to me was how he said bucks in the mountains work a circuit and I truly believe that based on my kills and trail cam observation. I get thrown off with people saying first time in is the best. I think in the mountains if you find hot sign that’s big sign it’s worth hunting 3 days. And it has payed off multiple times for me. And obviously it’s worked for him. Very good info and thanks for referring this podcast!!!

I just sent southern outdoorsman podcast a message trying to get them to interview mike weaver on the air. I’ve never met mike but heard lots of stories about him and from what I’m told he has more pope and young Whitetails in the book than any other hunter ever and most of them are from Virginia which is no easy feat. I’d love to hear some of his strategies so maybe you guys can reach out also to hear more Virginia strategies
