Kentucky September hunt

Unread postby Kane243 » Thu Jun 04, 2020 9:44 am

Planning my first out of state hunt to Kentucky. I’m intending to stay in the Eddyville area and hunt the wma’s to the north and west. I’m planning on the period of September 7-12th. Im aware of the heat, snakes, and the bugs, but wanted to cross a velvet hunt success or not off the list. Any advice personal experiences on what to look for in that time frame. First focus will be on pressure and agriculture and adjust from there. Best bug prevention tips, wma experiences, accessing Without pushing deer in agriculture areas. I’ve been accustomed to wv mountains so it’ll be a different pace for myself.

Hunt near isolated bean fields in the evenings.

Hose your clothes and gear with permethrin.

Use a thermacell.
Take someone hunting or fishing.

I hunted that part of KY early sept a few years ago there was 0 pressure and the bucks were in the fields during daylight. I wouldn’t bother hunting deep in the timber that time of year.
No Shortcuts. No Excuses. No Regrets.
Everybody's selling dreams. I'm too cheap to buy one.
