Boogieman1 wrote:My focus often changes as much as the wind. Will confess sometimes I’m content to just sit in any ole tree and soothe my soul. Other times I just wanna see a lot of dang deer and don’t care if they are bucks or not. Just watching deer up close has always put a smile on my face. But the meat and potatoes of my hunting season my focus is on locating a few bucks that would put a grin on my face. Then letting an arrow fly at the first one that gives me a shot.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Get healthy enough just to hunt. Even if it's out of a box blind on my buddies private!

Great topic Ack, love the responses to see where everyone is at.

I just want to see new places, challenge myself in the great outdoors, hunt alone some and hunt with friends some, enjoy it and fill some tags. It sure seems everything I shoot or stick a hook in taste better than what comes from the store

My focus is kind of spread all over of course I want to tag a buck but more importantly I want to get my 6 year old son interested in hunting so that may mean bird hunting more than bow hunting combined with poking around for sign. I am also going to take the pressure off myself about killing a buck and just enjoy the limited time I can actually make it out. I am also going to try to get my brother back on some deer with his bow it’s been far to long since we hauled a deer out together! Also rifle season I hope to get a friend out with me that’s been showing some interest in going I will probably sacrifice getting a deer but we all know there is sometimes more to it than that.

Harvest a few deer and enjoy being out in the woods has always been the main focus.

Size has never really been a priority and it still isn't, but the past few years I have been trying to implement tactics to get after them a bit more.

I love reading about archery equipment and tinkering a little, but for the most part I've found what works and I stick to it.

My new focus will be getting my young-ins involved in this lifestyle, even if they don't take to it I at least want them to understand and respect it.

1) Improve/Learn - I’m always trying to better myself
2) Have fun - I used to put too much pressure on myself.
3) Accomplish goals - whatever they may be. I’m getting really into woodsmanship and trying to track down specific deer and not just any shooter. I enjoy the challenge.

Main focus right now is habitat.

300 trees need to hit the dirt in a timeframe of about 4 days.
Look forward to this time of year just as much as the opener.

My focus is to have fun and get a break from the stressful work life. I enjoy picking something out on a map and going into it blind.
I think it is more fun to just wing it and see if you can figure it out from a large look. Then walk in with the right wind and pick a spot on the fly. I don't get much time to scout so I do it all on the fly. I just try to get on a decent buck around home and most the time the days I get to hunt are rainy or snowy days.

When I do my one out of state trip a year my focus changes to shooting something that is going on the wall. But I don't have to worry about the stuff I should be doing and I can just enjoy the grind for 10 days straight and go find something good. If I don't shoot anything that's fine too I just enjoy getting away from life and can just let go of everything that is going on for that 10 days.

I am a bit of a gear junky also. In a couple years my focus will probably change alittle will have my oldest hunting with me also hopefully.

Great topic ACK...

I have noticed most people on the internet now-a-days who call themselves hunters focus on:

1) Becoming famous
2) Getting likes
3) selling gimics
4) to look cool

Sad really... Focus on hunting should be

1) adventure
2) put food food on the table
3) to get closer to nature
4) to spend quality time with your kids or family
5) to escape lifes problems
